Quick Start

This document walks you from downloading the ISO image to launching your first virtual machine. The whole process takes about two hours.

Step 1. Prepare the hardware

Prepare at least three nodes (five recommended): two network interfaces, 64 GB RAM or more, disks for Ceph. The list of compatible hardware is provided in the Storage and Networks document.

Step 2. Install

  1. Download the ISO image from the Download page;
  2. Write the image and boot the first node from it;
  3. Enter the addresses of the remaining cluster nodes in the wizard;
  4. Wait for the deployment to complete (30–60 minutes).

Step 3. First login

Open the control panel in your browser:

https://<panel-address>:8443

The default login is admin; the password is printed at the end of the installation and stored in /etc/platformos/admin-password on the first node.

Step 4. Create a project and a network

Create a customer in the operator panel, then a project. For the project, create a network and an external network with an address pool. Project quotas are configured in the “Billing” section (see Billing Setup).

Step 5. First virtual machine

In the project panel, select “Create VM”, choose an image, a flavor and an access key. Within a few minutes the machine will be reachable over SSH. Congratulations — your cloud is up and running!
